Block x Block, a new community clean-up initiative led by Brunet-GarcĂa Multicultural Advertising & PR, kicked off today with a clean-up of Hendricks Avenue. The Block x Block campaign is a chic reminder that “Litter Just Isn’t Natural,”and their simple imperative “Start Something Clean” really resonates. No small wonder that local businesses like Clara’s Tidbits, b.b.’s, Basil Thai, Regions Bank, HighTide Burrito Co. and Paul Figura Photography were eager to sign on. We even joined in by providing containers and pick-up for all recyclable materials collected during the event.
The clean-up started at 2 p.m. on the corner of Cedar and Hendricks, with each company tackling the litter immediately surrounding their storefronts. Rumor has it that Clara’ Tidbits was able to collect 11 bags of trash in their slated section for the clean-up, as well as an untold number of cigarette butts (it’s truly distressing to see how many butts are thrown down carelessly by smokers).
The community clean-up initiative doesn’t stop there, however. The Block x Block campaign is encouraging participants to keep up the clean-up by sending out a weekly patrol to keep things clean. Here’s to a cleaner, greener future for the folks of Hendricks Avenue.
